Moon Shadows on Snow 2
(revised version)

Are dark, but not as dark as the night.
Are long, longer than you and me
But much thinner. If I stood at the end
Of your shadow and connected it with
Mine, what a strange creature we would be.

The trees all have shadows. It is hard to
Separate them because their branches
Are all tangled together. As the wind
Blows through the branches, their shadows
Move with them.

See that tree there, at the edge of the wood?
Look, its branches are beckoning for us to
Step into the forest. No, I donít think that
Is a good idea. The shadows are arguing,
They are trying to untangle themselves, and
Snow is dropping from the branches. The trees
Pay no attention. Trees know that they must
Stay in one spot forever.
