Sea of Moonlight

Silver ripples on a shallow sea
Midnight, the absence of all colors
But the elemental black and white

Which is enough to reveal the queen
Moon in all her glory, brighter than
Any imitation of light, only the sun

Shines stronger, but not at night
Night is the moon and the stars
Night is the hidden and the imagined

Night is pebbles of silver tossed
Like a path through the midnight
Sky where the moon waits among

Glittering clusters of stars gathered
In their brilliance on this night
Of her most magnificent appearance
