I read this, reread your first poem in the series, and then read this one again. How easy it can be to go from victory to sorry, from triumph to desolation. Both poems are saturated with details: I want to know what happened to this proud nation.

I can remember as boys that such feats were commonplace for us. To visit secret or dangerous places, to enter ruined buildings and to cross swift rivers. Would that I could today! But at least you brought back memories.

Whoa! I want to see this woman's story. I can't help but picture a woman from an older civilization -- maybe Celtic or Hebrew -- morning in a land overrun by invaders, and everything stolen away from her: her family, her tribal lands, etc. I'm looking forward to reading more.

This reminds me of the news awhile back where a homeless man had his voice recognized as being good for radio...and with aide and offers actually was able to reconnect with family, get a job and give back.

Another news story of a Fellow who in his begging cup found a diamond ring that was not intended to be there. And upon finding the owner was rewarded - so he too no longer had to beg.

We do I think have a hand in making our own luck. But our eyes have to be open to the possibilities...

Whew! Not a pretty place you have painted. But, not all places are pretty, especially those framed by sorrow and loss. It will be interesting to see where Irene's prompts will take us in the coming weeks. I think this could and probably will be a very different kind of journey. Glad to see you will be a part of the party,

After reading briefly...he was a writer and poet.

Macy - just wants respect. Not necessarily to be alone with books. People are fine as long as they aren't cruel. :)

It was delightful reading and writing with you in April. I hope to still see you around in the Wordles. I'm a bit behind on my visits...but that's another story :)
